Edgar Black Jr., the founder of Black's Barbecue is now 90 years old. In 1949 he launched the first official cooking on his Main Street barbecue and since that time he has not always. Edgar Black Jr. was even invited by President Johnson to represent the Texan barbecue at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington. Still owned by Black, it's an institution in the region and some Austiniens don't hesitate to take the 30 miles that separate them from Lockhart to make a carnivore fun. 8 different types of meat, including the brisket that cooked for 14 hours to étouffée, will be happy.
