The former baronnie of Bellpuig, founded in the th century, belonged to the Cardona line. The construction of the canal of Urgell in the early th century allowed the city to develop by strengthening its agricultural sector, which was a long source of wealth. Today, with 5 000 inhabitants, Bellpuig remains an agricultural city dominated by the cultivation of cereals, almond and olive trees. During the passage to the city, you should not miss the magnificent Renaissance Tomb of Ramon Folc of Cardona-Anglesola, considered one of the most beautiful masterpieces of the th century Catalan sculpture.
