El Palau of Anglesola (2 000 inhabitants) is named after a palace or castle built under Arab rule, which during the Christian conquest during the th century was occupied by Count Ramon Gombau of Anglesola. This palace or castle stood at the location of Doctor Bridge i Gol and Sant Joan, the oldest part of the commune. We can now see beautiful noble houses built between the th and th centuries, which certainly deserve a glance. The village church, located on Plaça Major, is a baroque construction of the early th century, dedicated to Sant Joan Baptista.
