Located in the Ebro Valley, Alfaro has about 10,000 inhabitants and is known as "the city of storks". It is home to the largest urban settlement in the world. A curious phenomenon, especially since they have chosen the collegiate church of San Miguel as their nest: with its multitude of turrets and alcoves, the birds know they are safe from predators. There are currently more than 500 storks in Alfaro. According to local belief, it is no coincidence that this town, which is home to the largest stork colony, also has the highest birth rate of twins in all of Spain!
