27 kilometers from Puttalam, and 25 kilometers south of Kalpitiya. Alankuda is at the heart of the tourism development project launched by the Sri Lankan government in 2009(Kalpitiya Dutch Bay Resort Development Project). Between Alankuda Beach and Illanthadiya, there are several luxurious ecolodge accommodations, very pleasant and relatively isolated from the houses, with a dream beach of nearly 2 kilometers long. A coral reef is located about 4 km from the coast, which makes Alankuda beach safe for swimming. You can also take a boat trip to see dolphins and whales off the coast
