Small rural town, in the north of County Longford, with 600 inhabitants. Two pubs, a church and a small museum which recalls the history of the Franco-Irish links: General Humbert, missioned by Napoleon, came to support the Irish in 1798 in their fight for independence against the English. This rural setting of peat bog and hedgerow allows for beautiful walks, notably, on the road to Lough Nabelwy, you will find a sacred well and a tree, where tradition dictates that a piece of cloth be hung from the branches. Further up, the small cemetery of Toberpatrick, where lies General Blake, Irish leader at the Battle of Ballinamuck in 1798
