The Bohus fortress, which dates from the 14th century, dominates the small village of Kungälv from the top of its hill. In the summer, it comes alive with local artists and craftsmen in a small street market, and with organized concerts. But it's not only for this that visitors stop here. The Gothenburg Biscuit Factory also attracts the curious. (Information at the tourist office.) On Västra gatan, there are starting points for a short climb to a beautiful viewpoint. Small benches are dotted along the way: ideal for a picnic break.
