Sehwan is one of the oldest cities in Sindh province. A great poet, scholar and sufi saint, Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, lived there in the 13th century, making this place a very popular place among the Sufi faithful. Every year on the occasion of the festival (urs) which celebrates the saint's death, his tomb attracts thousands of followers from all over the country. The city is made up of a few large, dusty shopping avenues where rickshaws, motorcycles, donkey and horse-drawn carriages and passers-by compete. Some claim that Sehwan Sharif has hundreds of Sufi temples.
