Travel Guide Boumerdès

On the coast, only 60 km from Algiers, Boumerdès, on the edge of a very large beach, was almost completely destroyed by the earthquake of 21 May 2003. Its inhabitants have been relocated since then, but this earthquake has been particularly deadly and remains in all memories. Today, the city has a bright face, far from catastrophe. The city centre is modern and well maintained. As far as the seaside is concerned, it offers a long and pleasant promenade lined with small-price grill restaurants, but also a small market for souvenirs during the summer. It is a pleasant seaside resort that should not be missed during a stay in the capital.
