Founded in 1887, incorporated in 1911, Glendora is nestled in the shadow of the San Gabriel Mountains, 26 miles east of Los Angeles. The city is primarily residential and has a population of over 52,000. It can be crossed by two alignments of Route 66. The first (1920-1930 alignment) requires you to turn right onto Amelia Avenue to reach Foothill Boulevard. The second (1930-1940 alignment) is in the continuity of Route 66 and passes by East Route 66. The two alignments are soon parallel and meet 4 miles from the fork, after Azusa Pacific University, on Foothill Boulevard, in Azusa.
