Upland is located at the northern end of the San Bernardino Valley, at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. As you drive through Upland, stop at the corner of Euclid Avenue to see The Madonna of the Trail, one of twelve statues of the Madonna, located in the 12 states along the National Old Trails Road between New York and Los Angeles, that pay tribute to pioneer women. Note that the Old Spanish Trail, originally a network of trails used by Native Americans and Spanish settlers, is also indicated in the city. This trail became an important trade route between Santa Fe and Los Angeles in the 18th century.
