This area was settled in the 1850s. By 1872, the community that had developed north of the current fork in the road was called Chalybeate Springs, for the iron-rich healing waters discovered nearby. Its name was changed to Paris Springs in 1874, after Ely Paris, a landowner who developed the community as spa-goers flocked to it. It was much later, in 1926, that Route 66 passed through here. Today, the main attraction in Paris Springs is Gay Parita's Sinclair Resort at Paris Springs Junction, which is a replica of a resort built in 1931 by Gay and Fred Mason.
