Villa Ridge was once known for The Diamonds, "the world's largest roadside restaurant. Moved a few miles in 1948 after a fire, it did not survive the gradual abandonment of Mother Road. The Tri-State Truck Stop and Restaurant, which succeeded it, remains abandoned today at the fork in the road between Old Highway 66 and SR 100. Coming from Gray Summit, don't miss the ghostly sign with large white neon letters on a red background that recently remained in a parking lot at Exit 253 on I-44. Nine miles south, near Exit 242, the Indian Harvest Trading Post attracts tourists with its teepees.
