Lexington has preserved several stretches of Route 66, the most visible of which run parallel to Old Route 66 for over 4 miles. Transformed into a pedestrian mall with immaculate tar or left as is with grass growing in a disorderly fashion, they cannot be missed. Another old section of Route 66 enters the city under the name of Memory Lane. Much less well known, this one kilometer stretch has been renamed Parade Rd and can be traveled by vehicle. It begins north of town and ends at N West St. It continues through W Wall St, N and S Grove St, before joining Old Route 66 south of town.
