The town of Cicero, bordered on the north and east by Chicago, is the closest suburb to downtown. It was named after a town in New York State.Ogden Avenue, an ancient Native American trail, was one of the first arteries through Cicero. Today, it is also the route of Route 66. Cicero's location attracted many criminals who wanted to escape the Chicago police. In the mid to late 1920's, Al Capone established his headquarters here (of which nothing remains today). The crossing of Cicero on Route 66 will not leave great memories but it is only the first turns of the wheels..
