Nabi Musa is a Muslim pilgrimage site, built on the site where Moses is said to have been buried according to Muslim tradition. It was built in 1269 by the Mamluk sultan Beibars. Muslims believe that Moses, one of the great prophets of Islam, is not buried on Mount Nebo in Jordan, but here. Local legend has it that when Saladin liberated Jerusalem from the Christians during the Crusades, he brought Moses' remains to this side of the Jordan. Nabi Musa is also a Palestinian village, home to around 400 people. The site offers beautiful views of the Judean desert.
