Soyo is the town located south of the mouth of the Congo River, or Zaire in the Angolan language. Soyo was christened Santo António do Zaire by the Portuguese. It is delimited by different arms of the river.A walk along the main avenue to the 14 banking agencies can measure the strength of the economy based on the oil industry from the outset.Few buildings still bear witness to colonial architecture. It is a low town except some recent apartment buildings and the modern building in the library. Going to the beach Praia dos Pobres, opposite the island of Ponta do Padrão (minutes walk from the Hotel Nempanzu) to attend sunset, offers an unexpected perspective on the high flames of the LNG company site and a very beautiful view of the Congo River. It is easy to converse on the street. The proximity of the Democratic Republic of the Congo makes it a great French. Many Angolans fled the civil war through the river. The «rich city of oil» attracts its Congolese neighbours, including many sellers and traders. The rich city of oil is also the city of the "Paths of History". She attracts more and more visitors to history. And geography, with the mouth of one of the most mythical rivers in the world.
