At the north end of Wilpena Road, Blinman is a former mining town, founded in 1859. The town had over 1,500 residents in the early 20th century and today has less than 30. People come here to visit the galleries of the Heritage Blinman Mine. Blinman has the charm of a frontier town because it can only be reached by tracks going further into the outback. Coming from Hawker, turn left in the middle of the village to reach the Parachilna track at 34 km. A dirt road also leads to Arkaroola Village, 155 km to the north-east. A 4WD vehicle is strongly recommended to drive there.
