Quorn, a somewhat nostalgic and charming street town, is located 40 kilometers northeast of Port Augusta. It was founded in 1878 on the route of the former Ghan train line, opened in 1879 and closed in 1970. Since 1974, the beautiful Railway Station, which you can admire, has become the terminus of the Pichi Richi Railway, a tourist train that runs regularly between the towns of Port Augusta and Quorn. It is also the address of a very local Visitor Information Centre. The Austral Hotel, a typical Australian outback pub, is worth a visit.
