People come to the village of Semokong for a taste of real rural life, but also to see the impressive eponymous waterfalls that crash 200 metres into the hollow of the mountains. In the Sotho language, Semokong means "the place that smokes", in reference to the mist formed by the waterfalls in the area. During the summer months, the landscape is green, you can even swim in the pond that fills up below, what a joy of nature... When the winter months approach, the pond starts to freeze and a magnificent ice cascade develops around the waterfall.
