At over 2,000 meters above sea level, the rolling Nyika Plateau, with its picturesque landscapes of hills and meadows, offers visitors a unique experience reminiscent of parts of Europe. Its frequently foggy atmosphere and cool to cold climate set it apart from other large parks on the continent. Its landscapes, with small streams dancing around the hills and flowing through wide pine-studded valleys, are unlike any other in Africa. Sitting high above the clouds, its breathtakingly beautiful landscapes leave visitors with great memories. At 3,134 km², the park covers almost the entire area of the Nyika Plateau, which contains a great deal of plant biodiversity. Its rich flora is home to more than 200 varieties of orchids (including eleven endemic) that make its reputation. Nyika has the additional advantage of being inhabited by a large number of animals. Its fauna is composed of a hundred species: elephants, antelopes, zebras, buffaloes, hyenas, warthogs, leopards... As for the birds, they are legion.Accompanied by a guide, you can make excursions on foot but also by mountain bike or 4×4 from a few hours to several days to explore the plateau and better approach the animals. There are so many beautiful things to see in this haven of peace which allows the development of unique natural ecosystems in this region of Africa.Entrance fee: 10 US$/person/day and 3 to 15 US$/vehicle/day.
