CASCADA FIN DEL MUNDO
Site offering a nice hike of about 1 hour 30 minutes through the rainforest
This is the must-see excursion in Mocoa. The site is not yet too touristy and offers a nice hike of about 1 hour and a half (one way) through the tropical forest. Everything is very well signposted. In the second part of the path, you can refresh yourself in natural pools and admire four magnificent waterfalls, including the highlight, the famous "waterfall of the end of the world". This impressive 70-meter waterfall can only be seen from the top. From the edge of this waterfall - where you approach with care and equipped with a harness (provided on site) - the view is breathtaking and well worth the effort to get there. For the more adventurous, it is possible to rappel down. The first part of this ancestral path is quite steep. Bring good shoes or boots, because the path is often slippery and muddy. There is a restaurant in the recess of a cliff, 5 minutes before the Fin del Mundo waterfall, and several places to drink a juice or eat a watermelon along the trail. It is recommended to leave early to enjoy the site, as the exit must be done by 3pm. Fin del Mundo is located in Indian territory (Los Pastos) and the site is managed by the Corporación Turística "Fin del Mundo" whose organization is a good example of community tourism, offering work for several dozen people, between the maintenance of the trails, the points of restoration, the security of the surroundings of the cascades, the guides, etc.
