Romagnano Sesia, a pretty village north of Novara, is worth a visit for its ethnographic museum housed in the Villa Caccia, one of the major monuments by Antonelli, author of the Mole Antonelliana in Turin and the dome of San Gaudenzio in Novara. Designed between 1842 and 1848, the building is striking for its harmonious proportions and perfect use of neoclassical vocabulary. Every two years, on Good Friday, the streets of Romagnano are the setting for a religious procession commemorating the Passion of Christ. Unique for its dramatic character, this is one of Piedmont's oldest events, dating back to 1730.
