A small fishing village of less than 200 inhabitants, its name is inspired by the red granite cliffs that border the bay of the same name. It was the French who named this place "Baie Rouge" (in English Red Bay) in the 17th century. Red Bay was the whaling capital of the world in the 16th century and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013. The visit is worthwhile to dive into the heart of this former lucrative industry conducted by Basque fishermen. Discovery activities with costumed guides are offered during the summer season and will appeal to the whole family.
