The village of Volnay, with its 300 inhabitants, enjoys a prestigious location on the Chaignot mountain, facing east for the morning sun, and is blessed with an exceptional terroir. There are about sixty wine estates. The 13th century church faces the magnificent shaded central square, which offers a magnificent balcony with a view of the vineyards and, on a clear day, of the Mont Blanc range. From here you can also see the Notre-Dame-de-Pitié chapel surrounded by the cemetery, which was rebuilt in the 15th century, and which gave its name to the Premier Cru Clos de la Chapelle parcel across the road.
