Srah Emm (or Sra Aem) would be a small village of little interest were it not for the fact that it is the tourist gateway to the superb Preah Vihear temple, 25 km away. Due to territorial disputes between Thailand and Cambodia since the temple's inscription on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2008, tourists were initially reluctant to visit. Since then, however, relations between the two governments have improved dramatically, and visitor numbers are rising steadily. Interesting accommodation options have thus been created on Sra Aem, and other projects are in progress.
