180 km from Hanoi, a few kilometers south of Mai Chau, in the north of Thanh Hoa province, Pu Luông reserve offers magnificent karst landscapes. At altitude, remnants of primary forests remain, now protected, and the site is home to rare and particularly endangered animal species, such as Delacour's semnopithecus. This monkey lives in small, isolated populations and was once hunted for its use in traditional medicine. The Pu Luông reserve is reached by the road leading to Mai Châu. For motorcyclists, from Mai Châu, continue on Route Nationale 15 (QL15) to the village of Ban Tom, some 60 km away.
