LE COLLÈGE

Bar and caf
5/5
1 review

In the pedestrian area, in front of the Saint-Loup church, this small bar with a retro look was until March 2022 managed by Jean Courtoy, helped by his wife Francine. At more than 75 years old, the time of a well-deserved retirement has come for this true connoisseur of beer service. If his charisma and humour will be missed by his customers, they can rest assured knowing that Jean-François, the son, is now taking over the family institution. Drinking a beer at the Collège will remain a proof of good taste, knowing that he already masters the subject very well.

LE BOUFFON DU ROI

Bar and caf
4/5
2 reviews

A student bistro, given its location near the University, but open to all. The menu features around a hundred beers, including eight on tap. The bistro also has its own label, La Bouffonne, an amber ale. At the back, the sunny courtyard terrace is lined with a pétanque court, while the table soccer, board games and comic books in the reading corner are ideal for rainy days. A large screen broadcasts Red Devils matches. In terms of décor, the old pharmacy sign, formerly known as an apothecary, is a real eye-catcher.

BARNABEER

Beer bar

With more than 300 beers (kegs or bottles), Barnabeer is the bistro in the centre of Namur with the widest range of beers. More than 50 Belgian breweries are represented, which is almost a record. The microbreweries have the lion's share and all the available Trappist beers are present. In this former tax office, everything reminds us of the love for hops. A typical old café setting has been recreated, including enamel plates. Monthly zythology workshops led by a professional zythologist.

LE RATIN-TOT

Bar and caf

At Ratin-Tôt, we drink more than 90 different beers, most of which are Belgian. You can sit at the counter, take a seat in a unique setting or enjoy the view from the terrace in a relaxed and local atmosphere. The oldest estaminet in Namur (1616!), one of the oldest in Belgium, reminds us of the splendor of yesteryear. Local curiosity, its owner David Rouyer does not hesitate to tell that in season, it happens that tourists pass the head inside "just to see" this address impossible to circumvent. Do him a favor, have a beer!

L'ESCAPADE

Bar and caf

The temple of Namur football fans, with a big screen at the back of the room and a TV above the bar to enjoy the exploits of the stars of the game. Here, you can watch solid third halves, replay the matches of the region's clubs, meet players and coaches, transfer on occasion or take the time to smell the temperature on the terrace, opposite the Jambes station. The owner, Zoran Bojovic, the most Namurian of the Montenegrins, is also an emblematic figure of UR Namur. His son, Petar, also played for the Blackbirds.

POOL FICTION

Bar and caf

The cinema complex where it is housed no doubt inspired the name of this pool hall. Pool Fiction, an obvious reference to Quentin Tarantino's feature film. Billiards, karaoke or bar, there is something for everyone. In family or in groups of friends, the place is ideal to prolong the evening after a film. The atmosphere is generally very good and occasional or recurring promotions keep aficionados coming back. Like the billiards at only 5 € per hour every Monday. Other promotions are aimed at the price of beer or alcohol on certain days.

BAR L'ANTIQUAIRE

Cocktail bar

L'Antiquaire had a fine nose when it opened its bar in 2019! Right across from the entrance to the brand-new cable car and on a newly refurbished and pedestrianized Place Maurice Servais, it doesn't get much uglier for such an establishment. L'Antiquaire focuses on three areas: cocktails, spirits and high-end beers. As beautiful as they are good, the former are classic, sunny or creative (Mojito, Sex on the beach, Mexico '86, Elixir du Gisou...) but always beautifully presented. The interior is classy, but the terrace is a must.

LE CHAPITRE

Beer bar

In the shadow of the cathedral, Le Chapitre offers a hundred different beers, all from small and medium-sized breweries. Not a single industrial lager in this old-fashioned bistro. On the other hand, there's no shortage of new beers. One of the best establishments in town, both for service, advice and knowledge, and for the menu. A really good-natured atmosphere and regular jam session evenings among other activities (brewery flea market, Irish evening...). The house also ventures into one or other beer cocktail...

AU PONT J'EN BOIS

Beer bar

In July 2021, brasserie le 500 gave way to Pont J'en Bois. This beautiful brasserie boasts one of the most charming terraces with a view in Wallonia. A real postcard with the Jambes bridge in the foreground and the proud Citadel behind. The café has been completely restored, with new, comfortable furnishings but still featuring the admirable stained-glass windows. Marina and Guy are working hard to restore the café's vocation as a meeting place for locals and visitors alike. A fine selection of beers awaits everyone. An accordion atmosphere on Sunday mornings at the brocante.

CHEZ JULIETTE

Bar and caf

Don't let Sacha the Great Dane fool you - she loves people! In an area with many fine addresses, and opposite the cable car station, Chez Juliette is the kind of place you might call a "second living room". The centerpiece is the massive concrete bar. It sets the scene all by itself. The rest is clad in wood, like a village café. Here, you can drink (wine, beer), eat (often cheese, and often to share), and enjoy your coffee on the terrace as you watch people hurry by (slowly, this is Namur).

LE PRINCE BAUDOUIN

Bar and caf

Prince Baudouin takes his name from a time when the king was not yet king. As much as to say that less and less Belgians remember it. In fact, some of our clients' families have been coming here for three generations. From there to write that the "Prince" is an old man's café, there is only a tabulation that we will not cross. On the contrary, young and old like to sit on the terrace and watch the whole of Namur go by between the pedestrian precinct and the Place d'Armes. At the back (rue des Brasseurs), the Petit Baudouin offers a very different atmosphere.
