Saulieu is a Remarkable Taste Site, a town renowned for its gastronomic establishments and its Charolais Festival in August. This is where the parent company, Le Relais Bernard Loiseau, is based, along with its Villa Loiseau des Sens. Bernard Loiseau is a world-renowned brand that is part of France's gastronomic heritage. The group also owns the restaurants Loiseau de Vignes in Beaune, Loiseau des Ducs in Dijon and Loiseau Rive Gauche in Paris. From the intimacy of the François Pompon museum to the splendor of the Romanesque Basilica of Saint-Andoche, Saulieu has many surprises in store for sculpture and art lovers. In 2022, at the Eglise Saint-Saturnin, Saulieu put François Pompon on stage with "L'homme à l'ours". The play, written and directed by Jérôme Robard, recalls the creation of his polar bear and its exhibition to the world in 1922. Scattered throughout the region, advertising frescoes recall the heyday of the Nationale 6, the Route du Soleil et des Vacances. Saulieu is also the capital of the Morvan fir: small producers of sustainable fir trees are grouped together in a cooperative, SAMCO. A land of legends, Sandra Amani's books, the Legendary Stones trail and a treasure hunt (the witch's soup on the elves' porch) are just a few of the legends on offer. The Parc du Morvan is a huge playground and activity area, but it's also a mosaic of natural environments and a haven for artisan workshops. Staying here is like taking a deep breath of fresh air, a bath in greenery and gourmet delights!
