Built on the site of a Gallic temple dedicated to Pomona, responsible for protecting the fruit, Pommard, with its stone houses, is a beautiful stopover on the Grands Crus route. 736 ha of vines, including 122 classified as Premiers Crus. The wines of Pommard have long been much loved, served at the table of Louis XV, and inspiring Pierre de Ronsard, Gustave Flaubert and Victor Hugo! The Châteaux de Pommard and de la Commaraine are a Mecca for wine tourism and luxury hotels. The church's original flat bell tower and balustrade, a cabotte, the Fontaine de l'Artichaut and the Lulune spring on the Chaume are all worth a visit.
