Situated at the foot of the Stauffen massif and the Trois Châteaux, 380 meters above Eguisheim, Husseren-les-Châteaux is the highest village in the Alsace vineyards. It offers breathtaking views across the Rhine plain to the Black Forest horizon and the Alps on a clear day. Closely linked to the history of the Three Castles (of which some fine remains remain today), Husseren was built by the workers responsible for constructing these stone giants from the 11th century onwards. Visit the village's beautiful neo-Gothic Saint-Pancrace church (1885), with its vaulted choir.
