Paquera is a small village known for being a ferry terminal of the city Puntarenas. Most travelers pass through here to catch the ferry to Puntarenas or to set out on the trails of the southern peninsula. At 25 km from Playa Naranjo and 6 km from the Curú National Refuge, it offers a charming stopover before discovering the totally different landscapes of this region of Costa Rica.A word of advice: if you are coming from Puntarenas and going to Nicoya (and the rest of the peninsula), it is better to take the other ferry to Naranjo, because the road between Paquera and Naranjo is quite bad. Once in Naranjo, you just have to wait for a bus.
