Peaceful Morjim offers something rare in North Goa: a long, white sandy beach, almost deserted and silent... and not very crowded: you can sunbathe in complete tranquillity. The currents are much less strong, making swimming all the more pleasant. What's more, the area is not subject to tourist expansion, as building on the beach is forbidden... Why not? Olive Ridley turtles, a protected species, come here to lay their eggs from September to February - a sight worth seeing. The village is nicknamed "Little Russia" because of its large contingent of Russian tourists in high season.
