Ranging in altitude from 1,710 to 2,640 m, Grandvalira, the largest ski area in the Pyrenees, has been in existence since 1956, when the first lift was built at the foot of the Coll Blanc peak in the Pas de la Casa sector. Since then, the ski area has continued to expand. In 2003, it was officially renamed Grandvalira. It comprises 6 sectors: Encamp, Canillo, El Tarter, Soldeu, Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa. Access is along the RN2. In addition to skiing, Grandvalira offers a wide range of activities: snowboarding, tobogganing, snowmobiling (2 circuits), snowshoeing (4 circuits), mushing (2 circuits)..
