A small port of 445 inhabitants, almost twinned with Eyrarbakki, the village of Stokkseyri owes its expansion to fishing. Once both an important fishing port and a place of economic exchange, it is now a tourism-oriented locality. Despite its small size, Stokkseyri offers a number of highly appreciated amenities (campsite, swimming pool) and, above all, a beautiful, pleasant black sand beach, which is much less crowded than some of the country's more famous beaches. Only an hour's drive from the capital, it's also an ideal location for those who want to enjoy a natural setting but don't have the time.
