TELEVISION TOWER

The grand tower at three feet serving a TV antenna (like the Eiffel Tower) called Avala has returned the symbol of Belgrade since its renovation. Destroyed during the NATO bombing in 1999, it again decorated the Serbian capital since April 2010. The original tower was built in 1964 and was the masterpiece of architecture even earning the prize of the most beautiful television tower in Europe. The new tower is enhanced by 205 m and boasts to be the highest in the Balkans. Its cross-section is an equilateral triangle that symbolizes the Serbian tripod, the low chair that is part of the national architectural tradition. Two elevators propel visitors to the summit in less than one minute. The tower is intended to withstand earthquakes over nine degrees of the Mercalli scale. The viewpoint from which you can see all the Choumadie and the city of Belgrade is at a height of 122 meters.
