The small district of Khanom, populated by just 28,000 souls, will attract travelers in search of tranquility. The beaches are still unspoilt, despite the few modest resorts and restaurants that have sprung up. Samui Island can be seen from the coast. One of the bay's special features is the presence of pink dolphins, which can be observed by boat and sometimes even from the beach! There are also a number of interesting caves, waterfalls and an ancient temple in the vicinity. Khanom benefits from a microclimate, and can be visited all year round, except in November and December when rain and wind are often the order of the day. A destination still untouched by mass tourism.
