Still north of the Selenge River, a little further into Teshig Sum , lives a large Buryat population. About 20% of the population of the sum belongs to this ethnic group, but the district is inhabited by only 3 500 people... The area is pleasant, covered with forests, lakes and rivers. Nearly 90% of the area is covered by forests. The extreme continental climate of the region makes it experience large temperature differences. In summer, it can be up to 35°C when the mercury can be as low as -48°C in winter!
