15 km west of Chrudim, on the road to Kutná Hora. This village used to be home to a large Jewish community, historically settled here since the beginning of the 15th century. The Jewish population was concentrated in Kostelecká Street, separated from the rest of the inhabitants by a gate. In 1623, the city burned down completely and the Jewish quarter was rebuilt a little further away. In 1760 a synagogue was built in the Baroque style, and in 1870 a neo-Romanesque synagogue was built. Today, an old cemetery (Židovský hřbitov) can be seen, with the oldest grave dating from 1647. The neo-Romanesque synagogue still survives and has been renovated.
