Travel Guide Tawangmangu

Tawangmangu is a small town nestled in the mountains of East Java, at an altitude of around 1,200 meters, making it an ideal place to escape the region's tropical heat. From Karangpandan, a paved road climbs to the high altitude resort of Tawangmangu. The winding road leads past vegetable gardens, cornfields, acacia bushes and wild flowers.A staircase leading down from the village leads to the Grojogan Sewu waterfall (open all day), over one hundred meters high. The resort is very popular at weekends, especially with Indonesians - especially teenagers, for whom it's a famous pick-up spot. You can get there by bus from Solo.You can take a beautiful walk from the waterfall to Candi Sukuh. Not very difficult, allow around 2h30. By car, it's a 40-minute drive from Candi Sukuh.
