On the B4223, between Abergavenny and Monmouth, lies this small rural village, known for its church and hilltop castle. It dates back to the 13th century, when Iddon, a local chieftain, asked St. Teilo for help in a battle against the Saxons. Following their defeat, he was given 27 hectares of land on which to build the church. Note the three stained-glass windows by Kempe (1887, 1898 and 1909) and the carved stone "Green Man", a symbol of fertility. Open daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
