Travel Guide Mpanda

Mpanda is the name of a river that flows from the ridge to the Rusizi through a large part of the Imbo plain. There are two places corresponding to Mpanda's name, the large cemetery of Mpanda, which stretches over several kilometres along the RN 5, after the airport (Gihanga commune), and the administrative centre of the municipality Mpanda on the RN 9. This is the latter that is discussed here, less than 30 km north of the capital (2 000 BIF maximum in minibus) and 15 km south of Bubanza (1 000 BIF).It is a town that is beginning to develop much, probably because of its proximity to the capital, and because the whole region is active, both agricultural and commercial. A huge modern hospital was recently inaugurated in the centre of the town, which attracts the population of the entire plain and mountain foothills, often abandoned to the fate of insecurity, health or armed.
