The first town at the northern exit of Doha, on the left side of the highway n° 1 which goes north at the level of Lusail, Umm Slal Mohammed forms with its sister Umm Slal Ali a big suburb of 60,000 inhabitants which it is tempting to ignore to go north. We will however take a few minutes to try to find the magnificent Barzan Towers. They are one of the few remaining historical vestiges of Qatar's military history, built in the late 19th century. Their ochre walls and their Arabic aspect contrast with the modern buildings that surround them. Not far away is a small and modest souk of the same name.
