Venustiano Carranza, located south of San Cristóbal, off the main road connecting Tuxtla to Town, is a village known for its marimbas. Marimba is an instrument of music that resembles a vibraphone, to this close to the fact that it is entirely made of wood. It is, so to speak, the instrument of national music of Chiapas and the predominant instrument in the whole area from Oaxaca to Panama. A capital of worship dedicated to him, San Cristóbal serves as a backdrop for the international congresses of marimba.
