The city of Xochitécatl, which occupied a strategic position between the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and the Valley of Mexico, was inhabited by the Olmec-Xicalanque cultures and reached its peak after the fall of Teotihuacán and before the rise of Tula, that is to say between 600 and 950 AD. The main attraction of this archaeological area is a building called the Gran Basamento, which is 200 meters long and 110 meters wide
