Located in the district of Jodhpur, Phalodi was founded in the th century. The fort was erected shortly after, in 1488, by Hamir Singh. Located on the road to Jodhpur a Jaisalmer, it was the object of covetous during the many warlike conquests in the region. The Mughal emperor Akbar conquered Phalodi to place it under the authority of the king of Bikaner in 1578. She returned definitively from the Giron state when Rao Soor Singh conquered her again in 1615.Today, Phalodi is also called "the city of salt" due to the large concentration of sodium salt production plants in its surroundings. The city is the largest salt centre in the country. Few tourists stop at Phalodi to visit his fort, the Hindu temple Latiyaldevi Mata or the Jaïn temple, of minor interest compared to other important buildings in the region such as the fort of Jaisalmer, the palace of Bikaner or the sacred temples of Kolayat or Deshnok.
