Located 25 km north of Mandawa, the town of Bissau, founded in 1876, is best known for the splendid cenotaphs of its Thakurs and its many beautifully painted houses. Among the most beautiful and impressive, the haveli Sigtia, the Khemka, the Tibrewala and the Kedia are worth a visit. Less famous than Mandawa, Bissau enjoys a greater quietness and authenticity and its treasures have not much to envy to the most famous city of Shekhawati. It is a pity that the fort has been abandoned and is falling into ruin. The maharaja of Bissau preferred to take his quarters in Goa.
