It is a region of hills planted with bushes in a humid and warm universe. On the outskirts of Jiande, many farmers specialize in beekeeping: a honey loaded with the rich flavours of the bushes fields. A dam, the first of contemporary China, was built on the upper Xin'an River in 1958 to feed a hydroelectric plant, flooding a vast area over 575 km ²: thus was born Lake des Mille Iles (Qiandao Hu), at the price of the evacuation of 300 000 individuals.
