Santo Amaro, along with Cachoeira and São Felix, is a town in the Reconcavô bahiano, 80 kilometers from the capital Salvador. It is steeped in history in more ways than one. It's the cradle of Samba de roda, Maculelê and capoeira. Today, it is associated with two of its most emblematic children, Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia, but other illustrious artists such as Mano Décio da Viola, Tia Ciata, Roberto Mendes and Antônio Vieira have also left their mark on the history of Brazilian music. Other attractions include historic buildings, natural wonders such as caves and beaches.
