It is one of the emblematic restaurants of the Place du Marché. La Bourse has the charm of the great Parisian brasseries. LE DIX VINS

French cuisine restaurant €€
4/5
1 review

Cuisine of yesteryear in a setting of unusual charm, combining authenticity and whimsy. You enter a place with a unique cachet: an interweaving of cardboard boxes, direction signs, old advertising brochures, paintings and vintage touches. Small rooms with bohemian charm, friendly atmosphere, terrace in summer. René Fracheboud's cuisine is excellent: French, with flavors that are at once traditional, delicate and adventurous, such as shrimp with red curry and white chocolate sauce, or poussin with harissa.

A bistronomic atmosphere. The view is breathtaking and unusual: a panorama of the tarmac against the backdrop of the Jura mountains. The planes take off into the sky before your children's eyes, and above all without the slightest noise pollution! High-flying" cuisine with the talented Chef Benjamin Luzuy (the equivalent of our Cyril Lignac) who reveals all his creativity in his dishes full of flavour. A very contemporary signature. And above all the highlighting of fine products with dishes such as the softly steamed langoustines and their gazpacho...

CAFÉ DU TESSIN

French cuisine restaurant €€
4.8/5
14 reviews

It is Sylvie and Philippe, the happy team of the restaurant l'Opéra Bouffe, who have settled in this former Carouge restaurant in the summer of 2017. A few brushstrokes were enough to change the atmosphere and it is with skill that she has kept the old tables and wooden chairs in this historic bistro while reinterpreting it in her own image. In the kitchen, the original and seasonal menu highlights local and local market products with classic or exotic recipes often coming from elsewhere. Here, everything is fresh and homemade and we are committed to it. A nice wine list and a fine selection of regional wines served by the owner who will be happy to tell you the story. A very friendly welcome and a typical and charming setting where it is good to come also for an aperitif with friends. You can enjoy the shaded terrace in the summer, overlooking the preserved Rondeau square and the setting sun

LE CAFÉ DU BOURG-DE-FOUR

Bistro and brasserie €€
4.7/5
14 reviews

The establishment is an institution: difficult to miss during your exploration of the old town. Dating from 1874, it is one of the oldest bistros in Geneva. Did you know that, in the 15th century, its back door gave access to a brothel, located in the rue Chausse Coqs, then known as rue Chausse Cul? The setting is worth a look. Some customers, after having been slutty or not, left their portrait on the walls. Try one of the Swiss specialties: the roesti, or a good entrecote or steak tartare.

CAFÉ DES NÉGOCIANTS

French cuisine restaurant €€
4.8/5
12 reviews

In the beautiful Sardinian city of Carouge, Café des Négociants is a gourmet stopover in a traditional bistro atmosphere. Taken over in 2009 by Philippe Chevrier, the talented chef of Domaine de Chateauvieux, this chic bistro was entrusted to loyal collaborators: Patrick Gall and Guillaume Landreau (chef in the kitchen). The setting is bright and wooded, with a nice zinc bar in the spirit of a small "bouchon lyonnais" (typical Lyonnais restaurant). The food is tasty and prepared using fresh seasonal produce from the market. You will be swept away by the Mediterranean flavours of the roast duck magret with honey and coriander, the "sauté minute" prawns and squid duo, carnaroli and saffron risotto and by the delicious desserts - the pure "Venezuela" chocolate double cream mousse with cocoa meringues. Enjoy all this with a nice Genevan wine (another speciality of Philippe Chevrier, Michelin starred chef from the Domaine de Château-Vieux), with the possibility of dining in the cellar for amateurs. In summer you can enjoy the elegant shaded terrace.

The brasserie offers a cosy, modern setting with huge pop-art portraits adorning the walls, breaking with the more conventional atmosphere of the establishment. Excellent value for money on a budget. The menu features chicken in all its splendor: on the spit, in sauce, in soup, minced. The 1/2 chickens are excellent, served with fries or salads, and this is one of the best places to eat on a budget in Geneva. Simple but very good meals! the menu: always the same yellow and green color scheme, reminiscent of wheat fields and green pastures. An interesting concept, which can be found in the Old Town, Petit Saconnex and Saint Gervais
